House of the Blackheads
The house of black dots is a building located in the old city of Riga, Latvia. The original building was built in the first third of the 14th century for the Brotherhood of the Black Dots, a guild for unmarried merchants, shipowners and foreigners in Riga. Major work was done in the early 17th century, adding most of the Mannerist ornamentation. The sculptures were made by the workshop of August Volz. It is also the site of the first decorated Christmas tree, erected in 1510.
